to the home of the Berkeley County Orchestra Program. Entering its 16th year of existence, the program has seen tremendous growth and has had a wonderful impact on the children that have been involved. The Berkeley County Strings Program is open to all 4th to 12th graders as well as private school and home schooled students.

MUSSELMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL STRINGS – IMPORTANT :: Please read!

May 3, Thurs, ALL orchestra members are at the 2:40 pm rehearsal, Choir Room

Months ago there was a plan to participate in the May 3 Band Concert. This is NOT happening. You do NOT have a concert on May 3. Come to the after-school rehearsal in the choir room instead!

Music binders WILL be checked this week– Must have music in the correct program order. Receive a grade of pass/fail.

May 7th, Monday, BIG DAY!!!  DRESS REHEARSAL, wear green t-shirt /jeans, first and second period, ALL Orchestra members AND First Year Strings report to the auditorium at 7:40 am, or as early as possible. No one can miss!

9 am: Orchestra members stay on stage to play for 5th Grade ORIENTATION. (10 to 15 min)

12 noon: band plays first for second shift of 5th grade ORIENTATION. Followed by Strings.

In the evening: STRING CONCERT, 7 pm, Musselman MS Auditorium, be there 6 pm, green/white,

$1 for adults , free for students/children, adult volunteers needed in foyer, ushers, supervision in rooms

ALL Orchestra members meet/tune/unpack in Mr. Eckberg’s room./ Mrs. Price

All First and Second Year Strings meet/tune/unpack in Mr. Shelley’s band room./ Mr. Funderburk

After the concert there will be no more Thurs afternoon rehearsals until the end of the school year. Classes continue as per student schedule.

May 18, Fr, Select students participate in the WV Orchestra Festival/ Buckhannon. Good luck to them!

May 18, ALL school-owned instruments MUST be returned to the string teacher WITH a name tag. We can also return Ellsworth and “Music and Arts” rentals if they have a name tag.

May 23, POOL PARTY for all string students and their families at War Memorial Park, 6:15 to 8:15 pm, you WILL NOT go to the party if you didn’t return your concert sheet music or your school rental instrument.

High School Orchestra – Important dates: PLEASE READ!

Remaining rehearsals:

Tuesday , May 1st, 7 to 8:30 pm, count taken for May 8th – we NEED the rehearsal!

Tuesday, May 8th, No School, are you willing to come and practice??? South MS, 7 to 8:30 pm

Tuesday, May 15th, 7 to 9 pm

Dress Rehearsal: MONDAY, MAY 21 , 7 to 9 pm, stage Martinsburg High School

CONCERT: TUESDAY, 7 pm, be there 6:15 pm Mart. High School, invite family and friends! $1 per person!

We need some parents to sit in the foyer and pass out programs and collect money – please volunteer!

Dress: green orchestra t-shirt and white bottoms, please check at Goodwill for white clothing, also pants at Gabriel Brothers in Winchester, very cheap, very light beige acceptable in emergency

PLEASE: Return all sheet music after the concert!

Don’t make us file old music at the beginning of the new school year….

We are open to suggestions as to what music you want to play next year!

May 23, 6:15 to 8:15 pm, Orchestra Program Pool Party, open to all string students and HS Orchestra Members and their family, band members you are most welcome!! Free pizza and drinks. Bring cookies, fruit or veggies to share.

May 24, Graduation at Blue Ridge CTC, select orchestra members, arrive by 6:15 pm, start playing 6:40 pm, ceremony starts with “Pomp and Circumstance promptly at 7 pm. Wear black/white . 400 West Stephen Street, must play ending approx. 9 pm.

Dress rehearsal for this on location: Wed, May 16, 6 pm to 7 pm.
